​Looking for a Sales Team Associate. We are looking for part timers that will become full timers based on productivity.

A Sales Team Associate who will be trained by STBO from the ground up but need to have a VERY strong customer service background. A crafting/baking background is helpful. The best candidates will be trained to assist guests in store and service our accounts outside of the store. We believe in a very fun and free creative environment but initially you will learn the ropes and our current strategies and add to that your own experience. 

We are looking for individuals that are tenacious and not afraid of VERY HARD work. You must be diligent and not the type to flake at the last minute. Our clients rely on us to make the biggest day in many of their lives special-so we want to be there for their every need. A humble spirit at times will be useful, but you should also know when to step up and take the lead. You must be very confident in your demeanor and approach as our company in known for our assured and thorough attention to detail and management of events. Other characteristics that are to your advantage are charisma, grace, style, humility, and a freethinking spirit. A little sassy could help too!

Each member of our team will be trained to perform the following functions (additional responsibilities are not limited to this list):

-administrative responsibilities including filing, typing, phone calls, spreadsheet input.
-managing the company to-do list and calendar
-selling our services after shadowing the owner and lead coordinators for a time
-managing clients, calling to book appointments (from leads and inquiries), updating files, following up on their questions
-attending consultations and planning sessions 
-marketing efforts including brainstorming, designing and reorders
-managing social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and blogging
-supply management including determining need, ordering supplies and tracking deliveries
-coordinating and managing events including but not limited to birthdays, receptions and weddings
-basic cake/confection design
-basic floral creation
-cake, floral and other deliveries
-running general errands

Sweet Thing Black Orchid has opened our newest shop in Waldorf Maryland. We are a fun, funky, creative and independent company that designs the most original and bold cakes, confections and floral arrangements. Additionally, we help our clients create memorable events, from conception to coordination.

This is a . Generally speaking part time is 15 hours and full time is 30-35 hours. Each has the potential to flex in and out of season (more work as we are in season). Applicants must be available for open or closing shifts and have good availability throughout the week. FRIDAYS, SATURDAYS and often Sundays are big days for us so you must not be limited in any way on these days. The hours are based on projects due and our event calendar. You should be somewhat flexible in your start and stop time, as start/stop are dependent on the workload. 

 Because we manage and coordinate events as well, we are often at the mercy of the event's time frame. . .. meaning we work until we meet the requirements and we stay until the job is done. 

Candidates will be paid based on skill set and experience. Base hourly wages will be paid with occasional opportunities for commissions and bonuses. Contract employees will be paid a set rate per event. We want the individuals who fill these positions to grow with us in both pay and responsibility.

Moral standard: It goes without saying that some things are more important than others. Your integrity is particularly important to us. We take a solid stand on doing and saying the right thing and making good moral and ethical decisions-both for our team and our clients. There is nothing worse than working for an unethical company!

Valid Drivers License: You must drive and have a valid drivers license, as there are general errands and deliveries that need to be made. 

Dress code: A more detailed dress code will be discussed with any candidate offered a position. Generally speaking we adhere to strict dress code, based in all black or all white-very current, elegant and fashion forward. While crafting cakes, employees will be expected to wear aprons or lab coats (provided) and hair bonnets or chef caps (provided).

Background check and references: We will conduct a background check and perform at least 2 employment references. If selected, after and interview, please be prepared to provide 2 recent work references (that are reachable) and be willing to sign for and provide the proper identification for a background check.  

Everyone is equal: There is no job or task that you will be asked to perform that any and all members of our team wouldn't do. . ... we are all in this together. We'll even let you pick your own title! Ha ha!

General crafting (feel free to provide examples)
Microsoft Excel (we do A LOT of work in Excel)
Microsoft Word
Photoshop and other general graphic knowledge
Working knowledge of social media such as Facebook, Twitter, blogging
Hate to have to say it but you never know-comfortable working with email and working on the web (research and communication)
Proper telephone etiquette and conversation tone are a must
